Networking and IT

Although a number of local firms already offer home visits to manage IT problems we provide this service in response to requests from existing customers and to maintain our ethos of customer loyalty.

We are able to upgrade both software and hardware to existing machines.  In addition we provide a new build service for desktop computers.  Networking services include the management of routers/NAS and the installation of hard wired networks as required.  This option is now becoming less popular as customers are finding the latest standard of wireless-N networking both effective and usable.  However where customers still require to be able to play on-line games a wired network remains the preferred option.

**Please note that we do not provide a service to either upgrade or repair laptops

ADSL 2010 update

A lot of comment has been made recently regarding ADSL upload/download speeds.  As long as a Broadband service is available to you the maximum speed that you will be able to achieve depends on a number of factors.  Service providers will only promise the maximum speed that they can provide, what happens after that is mainly down to the infrastructure between yourself and the local exchange.

If you are feeling frustrated as you only receive a download speed of 3,000kbps and the provider stated that up to 8.000kbps is available all is not lost (Broadband Speed Checker)

Check out these new faceplates!  They are designed to split your incoming ADSL signal at source removing the necessity to fit ADSL micro filters around the house and also improving your download speed.

Remember your upload/download spped will also be governed by traffic/time of day that you check.  So try it during both peak and off peak periods.

As you can see there are 2 outlets one for your modem/router and one for your normal telephone lineBy using high quality ferrite cores manufacturers ensure that frequency separation is achieved.  Accurate separation ensures that overspill is minimised.  Overspill is where the ADSL signal leaks into the voice frequency range or speech interference with the ADSL line.  This effectively ensures that your ADSL service will run at maximum performance.  The upside of this technical jargon is that, although not guaranteed a lot of people find that after fitting one of these relatively inexpensive units their download speed is increased.  It generally takes a couple of days for this improvement to become noticable.

This small modification should be well within the abilities of an average D-I -Y enthusiast, however if it all goes wrong or you don't feel confident to undertake the modification please contact us for assistance.
